eVoice Cons

eVoice Conclusion
eVoice's basic plan is a good value, and their mid-level and corporate plans are priced within our Market Standard. If you need an 800 toll-free or vanity number, you will have to sign up for the mid-level or corporate plan. They do not offer international numbers. eVoice offers a free trial for 30 days to test their product before you buy it. This service is not recommended for people who need a lot of extensions or an Internet fax service. eVoice offers a relatively low number of extensions with each pricing plan and doesn't offer Internet fax, which falls short of our Market Standard. eVoice has average quality phone, email and live chat support that are available 24/7.
Pricing
eVoice's basic plan is a good value, and their mid-level and corporate plans meet our Market Standard. A Local or 888, 877, 866 toll-free number is included in the monthly fee. They do not offer international numbers besides Canada, and 800 numbers are only available with the mid-level and corporate plans. Vanity numbers require a $30 setup fee and are also available with the mid-level and corporate plans only. Porting a number into their service is free. Their basic plan free trial lasts for 30 days and for 300 minutes. If you exceed 30 days without canceling, eVoice begins billing you $9.95 a month. Their mid-level and corporate plans also offer standard 30 day free trials.
Online Interface
eVoice's online interface has a quick signup process. They offer a setup wizard to help get you started and allow you to store contacts online. You cannot import contacts from CSV files, Outlook, or cut and paste. They allow you to make a block call list and access call logs. You can also set voicemail alerts and upload your own greeting. You can also contact them and add upload your own hold music. eVoice also offers a mobile application for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. With the application, you are able to make and receive calls as well as access some of the features from the PBX control panel.
Call Management Features
eVoice does not allow you to set specific call handling rules to specific contacts, groups of contacts, or based on a time schedule. They do allow you to forward, transfer, and hold a call, which meets the Market Standard. While on a call, you cannot transfer the call to voicemail, place a call on hold, or block/unblock a caller using just the keypad.
eVoice offers Follow Me call handling, which lets you set up an ordered list of extensions that will ring sequentially when you get incoming calls. They allow you to download recorded calls for an additional fee. They offer call screening but not call tagging. You can place outgoing calls through the PBX system as long as you have an existing phone line and can use the PBX system to make phone calls when outside of the U.S.
PBX Features
With eVoice, you can store an unlimited number of voicemail messages for up to 30 days. You can opt to receive voicemails via email as well as have your voicemails transcribed.
Only two extensions come with the basic plan; three come with the mid-level plan and five come with the corporate plan. These fall short of our Market Standard for each plan. You can purchase additional extensions for $9.95 per month. Each additional extension also adds an additional 100 minutes to your plan. They offer conference calling and automatically assign you a bridge number. Conference calls are billed by person and by minute. You can have up to 95 people on a call at once but cannot have more than one conference call going on at once. eVoice does not offer Internet fax service, which does not meet the Market Standard. They let you set up a custom auto attendant for callers to decide where they need to be routed and offer a dial-by-name directory.
Customer Support
We found eVoice's customer support to be excellent. They offer 24/7 phone support as well as email and live chat. Their phone support wait times are minimal, usually under a minute.
