Cons

  • Lacks the amount of features offered by many of their competitors
  • Below average customer support

Conclusion

Virtual Call System's Starter package is priced at our market standard and offers most of the basic virtual phone system features. Some of the better features of their service include a setup wizard, free 1-800 number, and general ease of use; however, Virtual Call System's feature list is not as extensive as those of many of their competitors.

The setup wizard guides you through setting up your time zone, office hours, greetings, extensions, hold music, and voicemail. This wizard is definitely helpful for first-time users of a virtual phone system. However, moderate users may feel limited by the greetings options, call handling rules and lack of hold music variety. The online interface mirrors these same limitations, but is extremely simple to navigate and use to accomplish most basic tasks. Although the online interface will address your basic needs, those who prefer more functionality will want to select a different option.

We also contacted their customer support and were surprised to find we had a difficult time getting hold of both the sales department and the operator. It should be noted, however, that their live chat was knowledgeable and friendly.

Overall, Virtual Call System serves the basic needs of most consumers looking to spend the market average price for a virtual phone system. However, users looking for high end functionality should look elsewhere.
