Voice Nation Cons

  • No free trial available
  • Conference calling feature not available

Voice Nation Conclusion

While all of VoiceNation's reviewed plans meet our Market Standard in terms of price, other virtual PBX providers offer great products with lower monthly fees.  VoiceNation does not offer a free trial, but they do offer a 30-day money back guarantee.  VoiceNation offers unlimited extensions and Internet fax service.  However, they do not offer conference calling, which we consider to be a standard feature of a virtual PBX. VoiceNation has above average quality phone, email and live chat support.

Pricing

All of VoiceNation's plans that we have reviewed meet our Market Standard in terms of price per minute. None of these plans have a fee to get started and each plan includes a local or toll-free number, which meets our Market Standard. VoiceNation does not offer any international numbers. They offer 800, 866, 877 and 888 toll-free area codes for free. VoiceNation also offers vanity numbers for a $25 set-up fee and will let you port in an already existing number for a $50 setup fee. Although they do not offer a true free trial, which is a Market Standard, they do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for whichever plan you choose.

Online Interface

VoiceNation's online interface is high quality and the signup process is fast and painless. Along with the easy signup, they offer a setup wizard so that you can effortlessly arrange your extensions and call handling rules. The service allows you to store contacts but you cannot upload lists or spreadsheets into the interface.

The call handling rules that you can set up include automatic forward, hold, go to menu, and set in queue. VoiceNation's online interface also allows you to set a block call list, access call logs, voicemail alerts, upload your own recording, and customize hold music. However, the service does not offer a mobile app for accessing your PBX system on a smartphone.

Call Management Features

VoiceNation's call handling allows you to set up rules to automatically forward, hold, send to menu and send to queue individual contacts or entire groups of contacts. You can also set handling rules based on a time schedule so that at specific times of the day incoming calls into the PBX system can ring your work phone or mobile phone or be sent to a voicemail box. This service also allows you to hold, transfer, and forward individual calls, which meets our Market Standard. In addition, VoiceNation includes the ability to transfer calls and put current calls on hold simply by using your phone's keypad.

VoiceNation includes Follow Me routing, which lets you set up an ordered list of extensions that will ring sequentially when someone dials into your PBX system. Although VoiceNation does not allow you to record or tag calls, they do let you screen calls before you are connected to them. The service allows you to make outbound calls with the use of a virtual calling card that comes out of your monthly minute allowance, but you cannot place calls when you are outside of the U.S.

PBX Features

VoiceNation allows you to store voice messages online as well as receive them via email. They do not offer voice-to-text transcription, but you can opt to get alerts as a text message or email when you receive a voicemail. They will store up to 999 voicemails online for up to 90 days.

VoiceNation provides an unlimited number of extensions for free, which is well above our Market Standard of 10 extensions. VoiceNation does not offer conference calling, but they do offer both send and receive Internet fax service with each plan. They also let you set up an auto attendant that lets callers decide where they need to be routed within your PBX system (e.g. Press 1 for sales, 2 for customer support, etc.), and they offer a dial-by-name directory.

Customer Support

VoiceNation's customer support quality is average. They offer phone support Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, usually with no wait times. They also offer email and live chat support throughout the week.
